« I just wanted to say that the Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener was a big help at the nursing homes we visited since it did allow us to get readings on certain patients who we would have had difficulty in possibly getting any readings with by using a regular auto refractor. It is necessary that the patients are dilated to get the best readings and to not have too bright of lighting. The patient must also be able to fixate at the target which can be challenging for some nursing home patients. It was a big asset when testing large numbers of nursing home residents and we are very happy to have it! » — Read full testimonialFYi doctors - Visique, Miramichi, New Brunswick

« It was great meeting you today. We are thrilled to have your Icare handheld tonometer! Taking IOPs on kids has been a huge problem for us. Many young children who require freq IOP checks often need to go to the OR for an exam under sedation or anesthetic. Doing this poses risks for the child and very costly to our institution. To reduce OR visits we have been sending uncooperative kids to visit local psychologists for behavior mod to improve compliance (again costly and time consuming) Your instrument has really increased our ability to obtain a pressure on kids. I have had great success with many children that I could never get a pressure on. We are also getting rave reviews from patients and families. We actually have cancelled 4 OR visits on previously noncompliant kids since we trialed the Icare. It really is a major breakthrough in measuring the eyes of non-compliant patients. I plan to do a little article for our hospital news letter about how this new technology is saving us money. »Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia

« The Topcon 3D OCT-1 Maestro is super user friendly. It has auto alignment and focus, giving a nice wide field OCT scan of the optic nerve and macula. The fundus image is incredible. Results are instant, making the task of sending out for testing and waiting for results for two weeks no longer an issue. We are able to identify and diagnosis immediately. It is clearly worth it. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone in the ophthalmic business. (...) An added bonus is that it is able to connect to Plexia, the EMR system. So no print out necessary, results are electronically sent from the Maestro right into the patient's file. (...)
I am extremely happy with my decision to purchase the Topcon 3D OCT-1 Maestro. » — Read full testimonialUniversity of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia

« (...) Queensway Optometric Centre had the unique opportunity to evaluate three OCT units in our clinic at the same time for one week. The OCT units were recently released models from three major Canadian suppliers and were being marketed for a similar cost. Several patients were imaged on all three instruments to provide a valuable comparison between each machine. Afterwards, our team of optometrists and staff evaluated each OCT unit for ease of use and image quality. At the end of this process, we chose the Topcon 3D OCT-1 Maestro.
For our clinic, the Topcon Maestro provided an ideal balance between cost and functionality. There were several features that were particularly appealing. (...) We are looking forward to working with the machine further. » — Read full testimonialQueensway Optometric Centre, Mississauga, Ontario

« Jelena and I were very impressed with the wave front analyzer. It was VERY user friendly and intuitive. It was easy to use it, walk away for a couple of days, and go back to it with comfort. The data were accurate and complimentary with compared to the other ancillary measurements performed in the work-up of a cataract patient. On more than one occasion, the analyzer helped refine the data to increase the accuracy of the pre-operative measurements.
A definite "must have". » — Read full testimonialIvey Eye Institute, London, Ontario

« (...) We had first seen the Icare tonometer at another office in Red Deer. Once a month we hold a clinic there. After using it in that clinic, we decided that we would like to try one in our office in Edmonton.
We found it very easy to use. Training new staff members was very quick and simple, only a few minutes. We found it to have a higher range of pressures than our older tonopens. Our old ones ranged from 6 to 30, where as the Icare tonometer ranged from 2-40. We found it more efficient because we could skip the step administering Alcaine before checking pressures. We found it less maintenance as our old tonopens needed constant cleaning.
We found that patients loved it too. Repeat patients all commented on how much easier it was for them. Problem patients who couldn't keep their eyes open before had no trouble with the Icare tonometer.
It has been a very good experience using this product. On top of a great product, the Representatives at Topcon have been very friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
Thank you very much. »Alberta Retina Consultants, Edmonton, Alberta -
« I just wanted to let you know that I am very pleased with our purchase of the Topcon CV 5000 computerized vision tester. With standard phoropters, I was constantly plagued by difficulty in reading and transcribing the prescriptions from the phoropter to the exam sheet, not to mention consistent poor posture and difficulty in making fine adjustments to the cylinder axis. With the Topcon CV 5000, I am able to perform even the most difficult, arduous refractions extremely accurately with minimal effort, good posture, and best of all, the ability to print my results instantly.
This unit is reliable and very accurate and I am very happy we made the change to this instrument. » — Read full testimonialCalgary Vision Centre, Calgary, Alberta

« I am writing to thank you for all the exceptional service you have provided me over the past few years. What stands out is your after sale service which I have not experienced from any of the companies I deal with. You and your team are truly amazing. In particular, I would like to thank you for showing me the potential benefits of the CV-5000. This instrument has provided a wow factor like none other for my patients. They love the high tech feel of the instrument and feel they are getting the best refraction because I have the best technology. For me personally, my back and shoulders thank you. There is significantly less repetitive strain on my body using this instrument. I would strongly recommend this instrument to all my fellow Optometrists (maybe this should be kept a secret as a competitive advantage!!). Thanks again. » — Read full testimonialVictoria Village Optometry, Toronto, Ontario

« The Icare tonometer has been one of the best purchases I made in a long time. It is very accurate and I have been able to take measurements on patients as young as 3 years of age. Occasionally I will find that the younger patients will have pressures around 20mmHg and perhaps that is related to the stronger/tighter cornea?? It will be interesting to monitor these young patients over time for glaucoma as they have not had accurate measureable IOPs via NCT or Perkins or Goldman due to cooperation issues.
My staff is able to perform these measurements with the Icare tonometer, I prefer to do it myself to keep the consistency on the measurements and I feel the confidence of the user helps relax the patient with any equipment that comes so close to the eye.
It has been invaluable to our nursing home visits...the patients are much more comfortable with this than with the Perkins tonometer. »Dr. Patricia Fink Eye Care and Optical Boutique, Burlington, Ontario
